The structure of the Project is shown in the flowchart beside. The Project started with activities of the European Cities Advisory Group. This Group elaborated the availability of necessary data, essentially requirements of the model and a revised confirmation of the Projects approach. This was done by an evaluation of questionnaire replies which were sent to European Cities. Their intermediate report was the starting signal to WP30 and WP40.
WP30 and WP40 are dealing with the core of the simulation model. They started on from a commercial simulation model on the traffic site which can be seen as the reference model for traffic simulations. The noise emission model went on from a model elaborated for the German Federal Environment Office which has a rougher approach than the one of ROTRANOMO. Their work is especially the adaptation of the model in order to meet the requirements for a European-wide application on a very detailed level. Furthermore the creation of an interface between both models is one of their tasks.
WP50 is going to validate the results of the created simulation model. This will be done in three different coordinated steps, comparing the results of measurements on site to calculations outcome.
Finally the progress of the Project is accompanied by WP60’s reporting and dissemination.
