European Cities advisory Group (Coordination by Glasgow City Council)

Formed at an early stage of the project, the European Cities Advisory Group has the objective of establishing a network of interested people from national and local administrations to ensure good coordination with the related research and availability of data.

This core of this network comprises the following cities and organisations.

From initial discussion of both similarities and differences between the members of the network, it was decided to assemble demographic, traffic and road network data from across Europe to provide base conditions and truly representative data for the modelling tool. This data was obtained using a questionnaire prepared and circulated by Polis.

An early output from this work was the need to include the ability to model powered two-wheelers, motor cycles and mopeds within the simulations. This has proved an interesting challenge and has lead to the development of new algorithms simulating their driving behaviour.

Further work by the network will include the provision of validation sites in Genova and Glasgow following on-street testing in Aachen, end-user advice on model usability and contribution to the dissemination stage and final project report.
